How Cinder Ceramics Came to be..
Becoming a ceramicist was a complete happy accident. I was wanting a shiny white modern log for the fireplace, and not able to find one, decided to DIY it and make it myself. With the help of my local ceramics supply shop, I was able to construct my very first piece, a white ceramic fireplace log with tealight holders on top. Ironically, this very first design (minus tealight holders) ended up being carried by Anthropologie in their 2018 winter collection!
After creating this first piece, I was hooked, and began working on clay at home in the evenings and weekends, around the day job. I opened my Etsy shop in 2013, and for years, all of my pieces were carefully packed into the car and driven back and forth to local clay studios for firing.
Finally, in 2018 when my business had grown so much that I couldn't keep up, I set up my Cinder Ceramics studio, and in 2021 retired from corporate life to be a full-time ceramicist and haven't looked back.
